'Life on the Mississippi' by Mark Twain. Published 1883 by James R. Osgood and Company. First edition, first state. The image of Twain in flames is on page 441 and on page 443 the Saint Louis Hotel is pictured. Together with 'The Innocents Abroad, or The New Pilgrim's Progress', American Publishing Company, 1901.
Dimensions: each volume is 9" x 7".

Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection.
Footnote: Mary G. Roebling (New Jersey, 1905-1994) was the first woman to serve as the head of a major commercial bank in the United States when she became president of the Trenton Trust in 1937.
