French Carved Alabaster Animalier Group: Panther Attacking an Ostrich
A French Carved Alabaster Animalier Group, 19th Century. Depicting a panther attacking an ostrich. Raised on an oval molded plinth base, with incised signature to reverse.
Dimensions: Height overall 17 3/4in; width 16in; depth 10in.
Provenance: Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection.
Condition:
General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, surface scratches and several old breaks and repairs throughout. There is an old repair to the panther's tail and the head/neck of ostrich. And some repair to the rock form base of group. There are three small plugged holes to the reverse of the oval molded base.
