Pennsylvania Chippendale Mahogany Slant Front Desk - A Pennsylvania Chippendale Mahogany Slant Front Desk, Second Half 18th Century. The hinged thumb molded fall with mitered corners enclosing an interior with central concave shell carved prospect door, to reveal an open aperture and two small drawers, flanked by two fluted document drawers, further flanked by four pigeon holes above four small drawers to either side, all above four graduated drawers over a molded base, raised on ogee bracket feet. Tulip poplar secondary wood, having full depth dust boards. Dimensions: Height 42 1/4in; width 40in; depth 22 3/4in; case width 38in. Provenance: Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Estate. Condition: Structurally sound. The top with heavy wear and stains throughout. The brass hardware is replaced and obscuring a previous set of holes to drawer fronts.General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions, dust accumulation and surface dirt overall. Old break and glued repair to foot facings. Discoloration and mildew around the base of desk. No key.
