Pennsylvania Chippendale Secretary Bookcase, Bucks / Montgomery Co. - A Pennsylvania Chippendale Cherry and Birch Two-Part Secretary Bookcase, Montgomery/Bucks County, Second Half 18th Century.  The bookcase with applied molded cornice above a pair of paneled doors, enclosing three stationary shelves, flanked by fluted quarter columns, above an applied base molding. The secretary having a hinged fall with mitered corners and thumb molded edge, enclosing an interior fitted with a central prospect door to reveal a removable bank of three small drawers and a pigeon hole,  flanked by fluted pilaster document drawers, further flanked by four valanced pigeon holes over four small drawers to either side, all above four graduated thumb molded drawers flanked by fluted quarter columns over a molded base, raised on ogee bracket feet. Tulip poplar secondary wood, having full depth dust boards. Dimensions: Height 87in; width 40 1/4in; depth 23in; case width 37 1/2in. Provenance: Descended through the Roberts Family of, Montgomery/Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Estate. Condition: Structurally sound. Retaining an old dry surface. Shrinkage,  age cracks and minor filling-in to the sides of case. General marks, wear, nicks, abrasions and surface scratches.
