Offered in June is property from a Bucks County collection curated by Bennett and Judie Weinstock, Philadelphia (Lots 1-43), the Collection of Ana Maria Lenfest, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania (Lots 45-63), a private New Hope, Pennsylvania estate (Lots 115-161), among other various local collections and estates. Highlights include several works by old masters; Balthasar Paul Ommeganck, Peter Jacob Horemans and others, works by local artists including Ralph Taylor and Harry Rosin, rare French Faience by Delphin Massier, a good mid 20th century rosewood table by Kurt Ostervig for Randers Mobelfabrik, tableware by Dirk Van Erp, and a portrait of Captain James Scott, attributed to American portrait painter Edward Savage (1761-1817).

A Large Pair of French Faience Blossom Form Vases,  Delphin Massier (1836-1907), Vallauris, Late 19th Century. Each with butterfly handles. Signed to the underside 'DELPHIN. MASSIER / VALLAURIS. A.M. / V.' and 'DELPHIN. MASSIER / VALLAURIS / A.M'.

Dimensions: Each is 11" in diameter and 29" tall. 

Provenance: Property from a Bucks County, Pennsylvania Collection Curated by Bennett and Judie Weinstock, Philadelphia.

Literature: A similar pair are pictured in  'Massier, L'Introduction de la Ceramique Artistique sur La Cote d'Azur', p. 84.

 


Condition:

Each of the vases have been drilled for lamp conversion to the sides. The vase with multi-colored butterflies has a break and re-stuck repair to the petal rim at top. The vase with yellow butterflies has extensive restoration to the top 1/3 just above the butterfly with associated re-paint. Under UV light the repairs fluoresce.
