Pennsylvania Painted Cherry Hanging Salt Box, 18th Century - A Pennsylvania Painted Cherry Dovetailed Hanging Salt Box, Late 18th Century. The scrolled backboard with circular cut-out and shaped sides, above a hinged slant lid with molded edge, enclosing an open interior over two short dovetailed drawers. Dimensions: Height 11in; width 17 1/4in; depth 8in. Provenance:  Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey. Condition: Retaining an untouched, grungy, dry and nicely worn surface. Heavy marks, wear and small losses throughout. Appears to be retaining the original oxidized and toned brass knobs to each drawer. dust accumulation and salt residue to interior.
