Calico 'Robbing Peter to Pay Paul' Pieced and Applique Quilt, Circa 1850 - An American Calico Cotton Pieced and Applique Quilt, in the 'Robbing Peter to Pay Paul' Pattern, Circa 1850. Comprising forty-two hand pieced blocks,  hand quilted at 7-8 stitches per inch with tulip and floral motifs to the white ground. Indigo blue appliqued swag border to four sides. Thin batting and finished with a hand stitched indigo blue binding. Dimensions: Dimensions approximately 93 x 85in. Provenance:  Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey. Condition: In overall good condition; wear commensurate with age and use. Scattered small stains and minor discolorations.
