American Chintz and Calico Cotton Pieced Quilt, Circa 1840-1850 - An American Chintz and Calico Cotton Pieced Quilt, in the 'Broken Dishes' Pattern, Circa 1840-1850. Hand quilted at 6-7 stitches per inch. Having an eleven-inch chintz border with floral sprays to four sides. Thin batting and finished with hand sewn edges. Initialed 'M.H.L.' in ink twice to the reverse. Dimensions: Dimensions approximately 108 x 89in. Provenance: Property from the Collection of C. Thomas Attix Jr., East Windsor, New Jersey. Condition: In overall good condition; wear commensurate with age and use. Scattered small stains and minor discolorations. Some calico fabrics are thin and worn/shattered.
