James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1834 - 1903) Watercolor - ”Green and Gold”, with Butterfly signature as pictured and the artist's name inscribed in pencil at the lower left, along with the date 84 (1884). The painting was purchased in the late 1960's or early 70's from the David David Gallery in Philadelphia. We have a copy of a letter from the Gallery stating as much and the original copy is available to the new owner. Please also see the 1977 appraisal in which the work is included in the inventory.    Dimensions: Sight is 6 7/8” x 1”, the frame 15” x 19 1/2”.  Condition: Some light foxing is evident through the glass, the frame has minor losses and expected wear. We have not examined the work out of the frame.
