Syrian Damascene Inlaid Marquetry Box with Lid - Syrian Levantine style. Handcrafted wood mosaic marquetry box featuring intricate geometric inlay and pierced fretwork. The hinged lid is centered by a raised square panel with dark wood foliate scrolling fretwork, framed by concentric bands of micro-mosaic eight-pointed stars and diamonds in contrasting natural and stained wood tones. The side panels display repeating inlaid star motifs. The interior is lined with a deep red velvet-like textile. The underside is finished with a plain wood veneer.
