2pc Lenox Porcelain Patriots and Washington Monogram Commemorative Bowls - Two Lenox fine porcelain presentation bowls made in the USA, including The Patriots Bowl and the General Washington Monogram Bowl. The Patriots Bowl is a 1976 Bicentennial special commemorative issue featuring five polychrome portrait medallions of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Patrick Henry, each framed in gold scrollwork with gold script names. The underside bears a circular gold printed mark reading The Patriots Bowl 1776-1976 Special Commemorative Issue by Lenox, along with a Lenox laurel wreath L factory mark and a gold foil sticker stating HAND DECORATED WITH 24K GOLD. The General Washington Monogram Bowl is a 1982 reproduction of a 1782 French porcelain bowl from the Smithsonian Institution collection, featuring a pink rose garland rim and a gilded GW monogram over a panoply of flags. The underside bears a shield-shaped mark for the Smithsonian Institution with the text GENERAL WASHINGTON MONOGRAM BOWL, a Lenox factory mark, and a black foil sticker stating HAND DECORATED WITH 24K GOLD. Both pieces feature hand-applied 24 karat gold highlights. The lot includes the original cardboard packaging and promotional literature for The Patriots Bowl.
