Philippe Starck for the Delano Hotel White Glass Table Lamp and Round Chrome Side Table - Designed by Philippe Starck (French, b. 1949) for the Delano Miami Beach Hotel, this custom lamp and table combination was created as part of the hotel's 1995 redesign commissioned by hotelier Ian Schrager. Starck's redesign incorporated surrealist-inspired elements and a predominantly white interior scheme. The lamp and table combination features hand-blown opalescent white Murano glass components mounted on a polished chrome-plated metal structure. The glass includes a reticello lattice pattern on the lower trumpet-form element and conical shade, with an internal columnar stem decorated with vertical white glass canes. The lamp is integrated with a circular chrome-finished table surface at the midsection. A slender metal shaft extends from the table to a weighted circular base.
