Egyptian Carved Wood Funerary Mask - Egyptian funerary mask, modeled after examples associated with the Late to Ptolemaic Periods. The hand-carved wooden face is fashioned in the manner of an anthropoid sarcophagus mask. The surface retains remnants of a gesso ground with polychrome decoration and fragments of linen, including traces of yellow, blue, and red pigments forming a striped headdress motif. The reverse is fitted with a modern metal T-bar bracket and wooden block base for display. Acquired from a private collection exact origin history and age are unknown.
