Egyptian Falcon Head Carved Wood Figurine, God Sokar - Egyptian funerary figure, inspired by the Late Period to the Ptolemaic Periods, hand-carved from wood in a simplified mummiform form surmounted by a stylized falcon head, traditionally associated with Sokar, the ancient Egyptian funerary deity. The surface retains traces of a white gesso ground with remnants of black polychrome decoration defining the falcon's eye and facial markings. The figure exhibits areas of surface wear and losses consistent with its present condition. From a private collection; precise origin and age are unknown.
