32pc Herend Hungary Hand-Painted Chess Set - Herend, Hungary. Chess set in hand-painted porcelain, featuring thirty-two figures sculpted in traditional Hungarian folk and military attire. One side is decorated in polychrome enamels with gilt accents, while the opposing side is finished in pink Vieux Herend style line work. The set includes kings and queens in royal robes, bishops as hussars, equestrian knights, rooks as figures atop turrets, and pawns as women in traditional dress. Bases feature blue printed marks consisting of an arc reading HUNGARY, a shield crest with crown and crossed swords, an arc reading HEREND, and the word HANDPAINTED. Bases also exhibit incised numbers 5530 and 5531, as well as blue painted numbers 5 and 138. Dimensions: 3.25”H Weight: 2.2 lbs Condition: Good.
