Two Asian Porcelain Cups, ca. 1890 - This lot consists of two Asian porcelain cups dating to approximately 1890. The items feature provenance from the Rubin Collection, as indicated by an adhesive collector sticker and a handwritten paper tag on the base of the octagonal cup. The first item is a round porcelain bowl or cup with a flared rim and circular foot. The decoration consists of hand-painted underglaze blue combined with polychrome overglaze enamels. The exterior depicts a landscape scene with a building, trees featuring red foliage, and stylized fish in water. Underglaze blue geometric and scroll borders frame the rim and foot. The interior contains a central underglaze blue medallion with a complex geometric design and a matching border at the rim. The base bears an apocryphal six-character Qianlong seal mark in underglaze blue. The second item is an octagonal porcelain cup with straight vertical sides. The exterior is decorated with multiple horizontal bands of underglaze blue patterns, including rows of triangles and scrolling foliate motifs. The interior is plain white.
