Wedgwood Art Deco John Skeaping Tiger and Buck Sculpture - This Art Deco ceramic animalier sculpture, titled Tiger and Buck, was designed by John Skeaping for Wedgwood. Part of the Dr. Ellis F. Rubin and Suzanne Borow Rubin Collection, the piece depicts a stylized big cat in a dynamic pouncing pose over its prey. The work is characterized by the fluid, muscular lines and modernist form typical of Skeaping's designs for Wedgwood in the late 1920s. The sculpture is finished in a uniform pale yellow Matt Straw glaze and is mounted on an integral rectangular plinth base. The side of the base is incised with the artist signature J SKEAPING and the factory mark WEDGWOOD. A circular Dr. Ellis F.
