Wedgwood by John Skeaping Art Deco Moonstone Monkey and Young Figurine - This ceramic sculpture of a monkey and its young was designed by John Skeaping for Wedgwood during the Art Deco period. The figure is rendered in a stylized animalier manner with smooth, rounded contours characteristic of Skeaping's work for the company starting in the late 1920s. The piece is finished in a uniform, pale cream-colored matte Moonstone glaze. The side of the rectangular plinth base is incised with the marks SKEAPING and WEDGWOOD. The underside features a green printed backstamp for Wedgwood Etruria England and includes a circular silver foil provenance label for the Rubin Collection.
