Rare Wedgwood Art Deco Queensware Istria Platter by Daisy Makeig-Jones - A large circular earthenware platter designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones for Wedgwood. Pattern is very rare and not often seen in the market due to its short run. Experimental patterns and matte finish by Daisy Makeig-Jones. The charger features a complex hand-painted design in polychrome enamels with gilded accents. The central teal-colored medallion contains a spiral motif with black flame-like projections. Surrounding this are four groups of stylized animals, including a pair of white horses with black manes, an orange tiger, a pair of deers, and a mythical feline, all set against a lobed light purple ground. The entire composition is framed by a wide black border decorated with fine gilded foliate scrolls. The reverse of the charger is finished with a clear glaze and bears an impressed Wedgwood England factory mark. Two yellow paper labels, a Skinner auction label, and a circular provenance sticker from the Rubin Collection are adhered to the back. Dimensions: 1.25”H x 12.00” dia. Weight: 1.60 lb Condition: Good
