Rare Wedgwood Art Deco Queensware Istria Bowl by Daisy Makeig-Jones - A footed ceramic bowl by Wedgwood. Pattern is very rare and not often seen in the market due to its short run. Experimental patterns and matte finish by Daisy Makeig-Jones. The piece features elaborate polychrome and lustre decoration. The exterior is decorated with two panels, each containing a pair of stylized birds in white and grey with orange accents, set against a purple ground. These panels are bordered by undulating green and gold-toned lines, with a black-glazed rim featuring a continuous gold scrollwork band. The interior wall is divided by green bands into four panels depicting multiple different animals like an elephant, antelope, and zebra against a purple ground. The interior center consists of a teal circular field with a central emblem of interlocking black and white crescent shapes and a gold ring. The piece is constructed of fine earthenware with hand-painted enamels and lustre glazes. The underside of the foot bears the impressed mark WEDGWOOD. The base retains several labels, including two yellow inventory stickers, a circular white auction label from Skinner, and a grey circular label for the Rubin Collection.
