Wedgwood Tricolor Jasperware Dip Medallion - This oblong unglazed stoneware jasperware medallion is designed in a distinctive tricolor palette. The central field is a matte lavender ground decorated with white sprigged relief. The scene depicts a classical mythological sacrifice at a flaming altar, attended by several figures including a priestess, a winged putto, and a figure with a deer. The central vignette is enclosed within a vibrant blue border featuring an applied white interweaving guilloche pattern. The reverse is smooth and lacks impressed factory marks, bearing a paper auction label identifying it as lot 167 from Stephenson's, previously in the collection of Ned Simmons.
