Limited Edition Wedgwood Four-Color Jasperware Josiah Wedgwood 225th Anniversary Portrait Plaque - A limited edition four-color Wedgwood jasperware commemorative portrait plaque, produced in 1984 to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the factory's founding. The oval plaque features a central sage green medallion with a white bas-relief profile bust of Josiah Wedgwood (1730-1795) facing left, accompanied by a small relief of the Portland Vase. The central field is enclosed by an integral lavender jasperware frame decorated with an applied black jasper foliate garland. The reverse of the plaque is marked with a gold-printed inscription: WEDGWOOD / 225TH ANNIVERSARY / 1759 - 1984 / JOSIAH WEDGWOOD FRS / 1730 - 1795 / NUMBER 418 / IN A LIMITED EDITION OF 500. Stamped and incised marks include 1759 1984, WEDGWOOD, MADE IN ENGLAND 84, and potter's marks M and E. A small adhesive label for the Rubin Collection is also present.
