Wedgwood White Jasperware Master Relief Casting Block - A Wedgwood master relief mold or casting block manufactured from unglazed white Jasper body, a fine-grained stoneware. The piece is a thick rectangular block with beveled edges, used in the production of Jasperware items. The front face features a finely detailed Neo-classical bas-relief scene depicting three draped female figures. On the right, a seated and veiled woman is attended to by a standing central figure, while a third standing figure observes from the left. This motif is known in classical art and appears in various Wedgwood productions. The side of the block is impressed with the maker mark WEDGWOOD, the letters KE, and the numeral 9. An inked or impressed date stamp reading 24 JUL is also visible on the side. The front face is impressed with the numeral 2 at the lower right.
