Wedgwood Etruria Yellow Ground Earthenware Charger, Cuckoo Pattern - This piece features the Cuckoo pattern on a pale yellow or primrose ground. The central well is decorated with a hand-painted polychrome enamel scene of a yellow bird perched upon a woody branch, surrounded by large white blossoms and smaller daisy-like flowers. The wide rim is finished with an interlocking scroll border in brown and four equidistant floral sprays depicting lilies-of-the-valley and cherry blossoms. The reverse side bears multiple markings: an impressed Wedgwood mark, Made in England, and the date code 4 O B; a red printed mark reading Wedgwood Etruria England; a hand-painted pattern number A4282; and a small blue decorator mark.
