Wedgwood Variegated Earthenware Melba Bowl - A large footed earthenware bowl in the form known as a Melba bowl, attributed to Wedgwood and identified as Variegated Ware. The bowl features a wide, flared, and slightly everted rim that tapers to a rounded body, supported by a short, spreading pedestal foot. The base of the foot is finished with an impressed geometric Greek-key style border. Both the interior and exterior are decorated with a marbled agate effect, achieved through the use of swirling slips in a palette of dark brown, ochre, cream, and sage green. The underside of the base retains a circular silver-toned sticker for the Rubin Collection and a small, aged paper label with handwritten text reading Wedgwood Variegated Ware ca 1915.
