Original oil on canvas painting by French Impressionist artist Luc Olivier Lesieur who specialized in immortalizing theater stage productions. This painting depicts two ballet dancers on the stage as they conclude the technically challenging Rose Adagio from Sleeping Beauty. Lesieur used impasto and smooth brushstrokes to convey the textures of the dancers' outfits, the bouquets of roses thrown on the stage, and the shadows that reflect from the spotlights.
