A Small Card of Division One Japanese Buttons
2 Medium size 19th C. Satsuma pottery buttons including Rakan.
Here are two 19th century examples including a colorful floral example and a scarcer button known as Rakan. As explained in the new book on Satsuma the Rakan guard Buddha (see image number 5). By the way if you have not yet ordered your new Satsuma book from Nancy Allen and Akiko be sure and do that soon, it is a must have book, and so says the Victoria and Albert Museum in London too. You can order it by writing Nancy at Nbankallen@att.net. The book is $150, and you can ask anyone, it is a book that spans stories beyond the buttons.
