Mikado D6501 - Large - Royal Doulton Character Jug
Black and turquoise hat, green and white robes.
"Mikado" is the ancient title for the emperor of Japan, beginning with the reign of the Mikado Jimmu in 660 B.C. Believed by many to have descended from the all-powerful Sun Goddess, the same family line has been traced through 124 reigns. The Mikado is popularly known through the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta (1885) of the same name.
