Menachem Mendel of Shklov pre-eminent Talmid of The Vilna Gaon.  R. Menachem Mendel of Shklov (died 1827) was one of the closest talmidim of The Vilna Gaon. In the final years of the Gaon’s lifetime, he learned together with the Gaon. He also transcribed the teachings of the Gaon on Mishlei and many other subjects. The Gaon personally reviewed the transcripts and approved them. As such, following the passing of the Gaon, he was entrusted with preparing the Gaon’s Torah for publication. In 1808, he led the first group of Talmidei Ha’Gra who settled in Eretz Yisroel. He settled first in Tzfas and later in Yerusholayim and was one of the first leaders of The Ashkenazic Kehilla in Yerusholayim.  One page, written on both sides. 32 by 22 cm.
