Lengthy six page autograph letter by R. Shmuel Hillel Shenker, eldest son in law of R. Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld to R. Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky.  Following the passing of R. Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld in 1932, R. Yosef Tzvi Dushinsky (then Rav in Chust) was appointed as Rav of the Eidah HaCharedis.  After congratulating R. Dushinsky on his appointment, R. Shenker describes at length the great and fierce struggle that R. Sonnenfeld waged to protect the sanctity of Yerusholayim. He continues how the extended family Sonnenfeld are pleased with R. Dushinsky’s appointment as R. Sonnenfeld successor. At the conclusion he requests that a member of Family Sonnenfeld should be appointed to the Eidah HaCharedis as Rosh Bais din (Rava‘ad) and suggests that his own sons in law are eminently qualified for this position.  R. Shmuel Hillel Shenker (1874-1956) was born in Kovno. A distinguished Talmid Chochom and great Ba’al Mussar, he founded the Bais HaMussar and Yeshivas Ohr Chodosh in Yerusholayim. Greatly respected, he had many notable descendants including his son in law R. Tzvi Kopshitz.  6 pages. 28 by 22 cm. Burn mark slightly affecting text.  Opening bid $300
