Hertzman writes at length about various challenges and problems prevalent in the Yeshiva educational system in America. With mention of the Jewish Defense League (JDL), Yeshiva University (YU), secular education and various other matters. This letter provides a fascinating glimpse of the challenges of providing authentic Jewish Chinuch in modern times as perceived by a distinguished talmid of the great Yeshivos of Poland and Lithuania.  R. Elchanan Yosef Hertzman (1917-2009) was born in Poland and learned in Yeshivas Chachmei Lublin as a talmid of R. Meir Schapira and R. Aryeh Tzvi Frommer. He later learned in Baranowitz under R. Elchanan Wasserman and R. Yisroel Yaakov Lubchansky. Following that he learned in Yeshivas Mir and survived The Holocaust with Yeshivas Mir in Shanghai. After the war he settled in New York. He authored a number of seforim and was widely respected. Lot includes response from Dr. Kaminetsky, Sefer Mussar Haskel (1965) and Al Techtu B’Yeled (1969) authored by R.
