R. Avrohom Yitzchok HaKohen Kook/Against Chillul Shabbos in Haifa. Yerusholayim 1931. - Strongly worded letter signed by R. Avrohom Yitzchok HaKohen Kook to the Va’ad of the Haifa community, decrying the Chillul Shabbos that was rampant there at the time. He writes that the Chillul Shabbos in Haifa is a stain on the reputation of Eretz Yisroel. Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook (1865-1935), was born in Griva, a suburb of Dvinsk and learned in the Volozhin Yeshiva. At the age of 19, he received Semicha from the Oruch Ha’Shulchon. He married the daughter of the ADERES Rav of Ponevezh. He served as Rov in Zhoimel, Boisk, Yaffo and finally as the head of the Rabbanut in Yerusholayim. He was the founder of Ha’Yeshiva HaMercazit Ha’Olamit, which is today the Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva. 29.5 by 22 cm. Very fine condition. Opening bid $300
