Hungary. Handwritten on Parchment! Chevra Kadisha (Burial Society) of Alberti-Irsha Hungary 1909 Magnificent work. - Yizkor Pinkas of the community Chevra Kadisha of Albert-Irsa known as Irsha, in Hungary from the year 1909. Handwritten on parchment in a large format, with a beautiful title page including illustrations of a Yahrzeit candle. Ornamental calligraphy in colorful ink with the names of the Gabboim and the artist. The first two pages contain versions of the ‘Yizkor’ and ‘Keil Malei Rachamim’ prayers, each in large vowelized letters. It then follows with dozens of names of community members, including women. One page is dedicated to the community’s rabbinical leaders, including R. Amram Rosenbaum “R. Amram Chasida”, R. Chaim Kitzeh (author of Otzar Chaim), R. Yonah Tzvi Bernfeld and R. Yehoshua Bichler. The Jewish community of Irsha dates back as early as 1746. Although it was a relatively small community it was renowned for its distinguished Rabbonim. [14] pages, approx. 13 written pages. 39 cm.
