In 1846, Sir Moses Montefiore journeyed to Russia in an attempt to persuade the Tsar to alleviate persecution of the Jewish population. As mentioned in the introduction by Yekusiel Shapira, who published the book, Massa Eliezer is a chapter from Shmuel Yoseph Fuenn’s “Tiferes L’Moshe”, regarding Sir Montefiore’s trip. Fuenn’s poem “In Honor of Sir Moses Montefiore” appears at the end of the sefer. According to Vinograd and The National Library the sefer contains 19 pages only, lacking the poem by Fuenn.
