Tehillos Yisroel Tehillim Kozhnitzer Maggid. First Edition. Warsaw 1861. Extremely Rare! Important Signatures. - Chassidic commentary on Sefer Tehillim by R. Yisroel Hopstein, the legendary Kozhnitzer Maggid. R. Yisroel Hopstein (1737-1815), was born to aged parents following a blessing they received from the Baal Shem Tov. He was known as an Illui, and initially learned under R. Schmelke of Nikolsburg, who later sent him to learn under the Mezritcher Maggid. Following the passing of the Mezritcher Maggid in 1772, he became a talmid of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk and was one of his most prominent disciples. In 1765, he was appointed as Maggid in Kozhnitz. He was leader of thousands of Chassidim, becoming one of the primary Chassidic leaders in Poland. With the signature of R. Elozor Rokeach, Rav of Drohobycz, who writes that the sefer belonged to his father-in-law R. Yosef Alter Epstein of Magrov. R. Yosef Alter Epstein (1835-1899), was one of the most distinguished poskim in Galicia. He was held in enormous esteem by many of the great Poskim of his era, including R. Shlomo Kluger, The Sho’el U’Maishiv and R. Yitzchok Schmelkes. He served as Dayan in Magrov and later as Rav of Ozheron. Author of sefer Ginzei Yosef (Munkacs 1895) which has many important approbations, all attesting to the author’s greatness. Extremely rare. Bound with: Devash L’fi, Kabbalah sefer by the CHIDA.
