”Der Emes Fun Americaner Rabbonus Feld” Chicago 1940. Rare! - Fascinating Yiddish booklet by R. Yisroel Miller, detailing the tragic reality that was the American Rabbinate in the early 20th century. Contains five chapters, including a chapter titled “Rebbe zogt kosher odder shtarbt fun hoonger” (“Rabbi, say Kosher, or you will die of hunger), reflecting the disastrous reality of Kashrus in America at the time, and another chapter titled “Streamlined Reshoim”. R. Yisroel Miller was a native of Poland and studied in the Slabodka Yeshiva where he received Semicha. He immigrated to Chicago in 1920, and served as Rav of Congregation Knesses Yisroel from 1930 to 1941, and from 1941-1956, as Rav of Congregation Ezras Israel. He founded the Hebrew Parochial School of Chicago in 1949. He was also a member of the Rabbinical Council of America, where he oversaw the religious divorce court from 1972 to 1976. 38 pages. 22.5 cm. Very fine condition. Original wraps. Opening bid $150
