Yabi'ah Omer. First published Sefer by R. Ovadia Yosef at 18 Years Old! Yerusholayim 1938. - Novella on Maseches Horayos by Chacham Ovadia Yosef. This is his first work published work, printed when the author was just 18 years of age, learning in Yeshivat Porat Yosef. Already in this work, R. Ovadia’s vast Torah knowledge is evident. With an approbation by his Rebbe, R. Eliyahu Lopez, who writes that he is confident that R. Ovadia will grow to be a great Torah leader. On the last page R. Ovadia writes that “because of printing expenses, I have stopped here, and if I recoup the expenses, I will bli neder continue to publish”. R. Ovadia Yosef (1920-2013), was born in Baghdad, and immigrated as a child with his parents to Yerusholayim. Known as child prodigy, he was famous from a young age as tremendous Talmid Chochom, coupled with incessant diligence. He served in various distinguished positions, notably as Chief Rabbi of Cairo, Tel Aviv and finally as Rishon L’Zion.
