Moshe Yehoshua Yehuda Leib Diskin (1817-1898), known as “the Saraf” was born in Grodno and was recognized from a young age as an Illui. He served as Rov of various distinguished Kehillos in Lithuania, including, Kovno, Lomza, Shklov and Brisk. In 1877, he was forced to leave Brisk and he immigrated to Eretz Yisroel, settling in Yerusholayim. R. Eliyahu Chaim Meisels Rav of Lodz once stated: “He is the leader of the entire Diaspora, and we are all worthless compared to him”. The Beis HaLevi once said to his son R.
