HISTORIC LETTER REGARDING SABBATH DESECRATION AT “THE MORGEN JOURNAL” NEWSPAPER 1943! Autograph letter to R. Bentzion Rottenberg/Halberstam (Tzanzer Rebbe) regarding The Morgen Journal Sunday edition.  Although The Morgen Journal did not publish a newspaper on Shabbos, they did publish a Sunday edition. R. Silver points out that the Sunday edition is blatant Sabbath desecration as it is written and printed on Shabbos . As such, it is forbidden to place advertisements even for religious purposes in the Sunday edition. He adds that he has also written to Agudas HaRabbanim and to “ The Rosh Chabad”. R. Eliezer Silver (1882-1968), was born in Lithuania and studied under R. Chaim Ozer Grodzinski of Vilna, (who granted him Semicha), R. Meir Simcha of Dvinsk and R. Chaim Soloveitchik of Brisk. He immigrated to the United States in 1907, and around 1931 accepted an invitation to become Rav in Cincinnati, where he remained until his passing. Extremely active in the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the U.S. and Canada (Agudas HaRabbanim), of which he was elected president in 1929. 21.5 by 28 cm. Excellent condition. Opening bid $250
