MIN HA’MEITZAR. FIRST EDITION. NEW YORK 1960. R. MICHOEL BER WEISSMANDEL. - MIN HA’MEITZAR. FIRST EDITION. NEW YORK 1960. R. MICHOEL BER WEISSMANDEL. Holocaust memoirs of the renowned R. Michoel Ber Weissmandel. In this book R. Weissmandel berates the Zionist and secular Jewish leaders for their indifference and callous attitude towards the rescue of the beleaguered Jews of Europe. With hundreds of documents, this book documents how the Zionists obstructed R. Weissmandel’s rescue efforts which they foolishly perceived were in opposition to the “Zionist Dream”. Upon its publication the book was a great source of embarrassment to the Zionist establishment who futilely sought to discredit both the author as well as the book.  R. Chaim Michoel Ber Weissmandel (1903-1957), was an outstanding Talmid Chacham who served as the Rosh Yeshiva of the Nitra Yeshiva and was particularly renowned for his rescue activities during the Holocaust. Through his efforts, the mass deportation of Slovakian Jews was postponed for two years, from 1942 to 1944. In November 1946, after losing his entire family in the Holocaust, he gathered the surviving students from the original Nitra yeshiva and re-established the yeshiva in Mt. Kisco. He was greatly respected by his Rabbinical contemporaries and had a profound influence on his talmidim. 252, 6, 22, 5 pages. 25 cm. Fine condition. Original binding (slightly loose). Opening bid $100
