DIVREI EMES. BOTH VOLUMES. CHICAGO 1904/1912. - DIVREI EMES. BOTH VOLUMES. CHICAGO 1904/1912. Extremely strongly worded polemic regarding the violent dispute of The Kosher meat industry in Chicago authored by R. Tzvi Shimon Album.  R. Tzvi Shimon Album (1849-1921) was descended from a rabbinical family and learned in Volozhin. An outstanding Talmid Chochom, he was closely associated with R. Meir Simcha of Dvinsk. In 1891, he immigrated to Chicago where he served as a Rav and valiantly attempted to raise the standards of Orthodox Judaism.  Chicago was then the nation’s slaughtering capital and R. Album invested great efforts to raise the standards of Kosher meat. In 1903, R. Yaakov Dovid Willowsky (Ridvaz) was appointed Chicago’s Chief Rabbi. Unfortunately, a bitter rabbinical dispute regarding the Kosher meat industry erupted between these two great rabbinical figures. Fueled by the energy of unscrupulous business owners and uncouth butchers, the two sides were known as Albumists and Ridvazists and it developed into a violent dispute. Ultimately the Ridvaz was forced to leave Chicago.  For further reading see Nimukei Ridvaz (Chicago 1904).  Meites press. Vol 1, 87 pages. 25 cm. Fine condition, unbound.
