MASECHES DERECH ERETZ HACHADASHA. AMERICANA/ PARODY. WARSAW 1898. - Humorous satire of American Jewish life based on Talmudic style “Derech Eretz HaChadashah” i.e. The Way of the New Land. Includes a satire of a Talmudic Tractate, a satire of a Passover Haggadah, a satire of Akdomus ridiculing The Reform Movement and additional “Piyutim”. Authored by Avraham Kotlyar of Cleveland in a comical and often acerbic style.    For hundreds of years, persecution and difficult living conditions, coupled with Talmudic minds, often cultivated a wry and satirical sense of humor. Frequently these publications reflect the times during which they were written, with cryptic references to then current events. See Goldman 1099. 39 pages. 19 cm. Overall fine condition, dry paper.
