R. Yitzchok Zev HaLevi Soloveitchik Brisker Rov/ R. Yisroel Chaim Kaplan. Brisk 1937. - Letter to R. Yosef Gurwitz of Melbourne, Australia about Yeshivas Toras Chesed of Brisk signed by both the Brisker Rav and R. Yisroel Chaim Kaplan. The letter vividly describes the need for funds for the Yeshiva that was established 40 years prior by R. Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik and concludes with warm blessings for the donors. R. Yitzchak Zev HaLevi Soloveitchik (1886-1959), was of son of R. Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik. Primarily a disciple of his father, he was renowned from a young age for his brilliant mind coupled with outstanding diligence and great piety. He succeeded his father as Rav of Brisk where in addition to his rabbinical duties he taught a small group of exceptional talmidim. Following his miraculous escape from Europe during the Holocaust he lived in Yerushalayim where he taught Torah to his sons and a small group of outstanding talmidim. Recognized as the one of the preeminent Torah leaders of his era he was held in awe by his rabbinical contemporaries as well as by the masses. R. Yisroel Chaim Kaplan (1895-1970), was a close talmid and son-in-law of R. Yerucham Levovitz, the Mirrer Mashgiach. He served as Rosh Yeshiva of Toras Chesed in Brisk and following the Holocaust as Mashgiach of Beis Medrash Elyon in Monsey. 22 by 28 cm. Excellent condition. Opening bid $4500
