R. Moshe Shmuel Shapiro. Lot of 2 Letters. 1959. - Lot of 2 letters by R. Moshe Shmuel Shapiro, one handwritten and signed, the other typed and signed. The first is about the dire financial situation in the Yeshiva following a fire which occurred on Yom Kippur 1958 (which is interestingly signed on Chol Hamoed Sukkos) and the second is a personal note. R. Moshe Shmuel Shapiro (1917-2006), was born in Minsk to R. Aryeh, son of R. Refoel Shapiro of Volozhin. He studied under R. Elchonon Wasserman in Baranovitch and in the Mirrer Yeshiva and was also a close Talmid of his cousin the Brisker Rov. Following his immigration to Eretz Yisroel, he co-founded Yeshivas Be’er Yaakov and was one of the Yeshiva world’s most eminent Roshei Yeshiva. In that capacity he educated generations of distinguished talmidim and was renowned for his penetrating shiurim and seforim. 27.5 by 22; 11 by 14 cm. Excellent condition. Opening bid $200
