R. Moshe (Ma’HaRaM) Schick. Derosho before Tekias Shofar. Yergin 1875 - R. Moshe Schick (1807-1879), was born in Birkenheim and learned under the Chasam Sofer in Pressburg for 6 years. He developed into an outstanding Talmid Chochom and was particularly close to the Chasam Sofer. In 1838, upon the recommendation of the Chasam Sofer he was appointed Rav in Yergin where he opened a Yeshiva, which expanded to over 800 talmidim. In 1861, he was appointed Rov of Chust and transferred the Yeshiva there. He was one of the greatest Poskim of his era as well as one the leading rabbinical figures in Hungary, particularly involved in the struggle against the Reform movement and advocating against educational reform in the Yeshivos. In many kehillos, it was customary that the Rov would deliver a fiery Derosho before Tekias Shofar to rouse the kehillo to Teshuva. 4 handwritten sides. 17 by 22 cm. Excellent condition.
