R. Aaron Rokeach. Historical documents pertaining to the rescue to of the Belzer Rov, R. Aaron Rokeach from the Holocaust! - • 1941. Typed letter sent by the Belzer Chassidim in Yerusholayim to R. Shaul Yedidyah Elozor Taub of Modzhitz. They write, that the Rov is in Premishlan and they have received word via a refugee who recently escaped from Russia that the Belzer Rov wished to leave Europe for either Eretz Yisroel or America. • 1942. Typed letter with reference to a telegram received from Switzerland, that the Rov wished to leave Europe with his family for Eretz Yisroel and that efforts are underway to procure “certificates”. The rescue of the Belzer Rov from war torn Europe was one of the great miracles of the Holocaust. Beginning on Simchas Torah 1939, when the Rov left the Shtetl of Belz together with his family, and ending in the winter of 1944, when he arrived in Eretz Yisroel with just his brother R.
