R. Avrohom Yeshaya Karelitz. Chazon Ish. Bnai Brak 1949. - Check for $600 sent by R. Shmuel Greineman to his brother in law the Chazon Ish, endorsed by the Chazon Ish. The signature reads הרב א. קרליץ which is of particular interest as the Chazon Ish generally signed his name with acronym “Is’h”, and particularly shied away from titles such as HaRav. R. Avrohom Yeshaya Karelitz (1879-1954), was son of R. Shmaryahu Yosef Karelitz, Rav of Kosovo. Although he sought anonymity, turning down rabbinical positions and even publishing his seforim anonymously, he was recognized as one of the greatest Torah leader of his generation.
