R. Moshe HaLevi Horowitz. Shoshanas Ha’Amakim. Historic discovery. - Autograph document signed by R. Moshe HaLevi Horowitz. Regarding a monetary transaction between two parties. With additional signature of two Dayanim on R. Moshe’s Bais Din. R. Moshe HaLevi Horowitz (1770-1834), was one of the most eminent rabbinical figures of his time. Famous as a tremendous Talmid Chochom and Tzaddik he served as Rov in Volochysk. He authored the sefer Shoshanas Ha’Amakim (Koritz 1819), where he quotes R. Elimelech of Lizhensk and R. Yisroel of Tcharnystrov (son of R. Zishe of Anipoli). See Meorei Galicia by Meir Wunder, that R. Moshe Horowitz was a son of R Aryeh Yehuda Leib Av-Beis-Din of Volochysk, a famous talmid of the Mezritcher Maggid, who emigrated to Tzefas and is among the Tzadikim buried in Tiveria. R. Moshe’s most famous talmid was the renowned R. Meir Leibish Malbim. In the introduction to his sefer Artzos Ha’Chaim (Breslau 1837), the Malbim writes at length about the greatness of his Rebbe, writing extraordinary titles including “Gaon Ha’Amiti”.
