Chaim Benveniste (1603-1673), known as the Knesses HaGedolah. On the title page the CHID”A writes that he received the sefer as a gift and then signs his name. Additionally, on page 60b there is a learned gloss in the handwriting of the CHID”A. With additional glosses in an unidentified Sephardic hand. R. Chaim Yosef Dovid Azulai (1724-1806), was one of the greatest Torah scholars and authors of his generation. He studied under the Ohr HaChaim Ha’Kodosh and the RaShaSH and was a close contemporary of R. Yom Tov (MaHaRIT) Algazi. He was a prolific author writing more than eighty seforim on many aspects of Torah. His seforim were received with great acclaim and are classics of Torah scholarship. Vinograd Livorno 258.
