Sir Moses Montefiore. Lot of two eulogies. - Lot of two eulogies, both entitled Avel Moshe, upon the passing of Sir Moses Montefiore, by R. Yaakov Koppel Margolios and by R. Yitzchok Har-Shushan. Sir Moses Montefiore (1784-1885), was a Jewish English financier and banker, advocate of social reform and philanthropist who served as Sheriff of London. He devoted most of his life to assisting Jewish communities worldwide, particularly the Jews of the Holy Land to whom he donated large sums of money to promote health, education and industry. Amongst his many noble endeavors was the financing of a printing press in Yerusholayim as a means of providing a livelihood for the impoverished residents of the old Yishuv.
